Kottukkal cave temple, located in the Kotthukkal village, is one of the many places to see in Kollam. The temple is also known as Kaltrikkovil in Malayalam language and is a beautiful rock cut temple. The temple is an excellent example of rock cut architecture that prevailed between the 6th and 8th centuries CE, and is looked at with awe by architecture students as well as pious devotees alike.
കൊല്ലത്ത് കാണേണ്ട നിരവധി സ്ഥലങ്ങളിൽ ഒന്നാണ് കോട്ടുക്കൽ ഗ്രാമത്തിൽ സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്ന കോട്ടുക്കൽ ഗുഹാക്ഷേത്രം. മലയാളത്തിൽ കൽതൃക്കോവിൽ എന്നും അറിയപ്പെടുന്ന ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം മനോഹരമായ ഒരു പാറ മുറിച്ച ക്ഷേത്രമാണ്. സി.ഇ. ആറാം നൂറ്റാണ്ടിനും എട്ടാം നൂറ്റാണ്ടിനും ഇടയിൽ നിലനിന്നിരുന്ന റോക്ക് കട്ട് വാസ്തുവിദ്യയുടെ ഉത്തമോദാഹരണമാണ് ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം, വാസ്തുവിദ്യാ വിദ്യാർത്ഥികളും ഭക്തരായ ഭക്തരും ഒരുപോലെ വിസ്മയത്തോടെ നോക്കിക്കാണുന്നു.
